Is my credit card information safe with Oxcart?

Last updated on 22 Jan, 2026

Oxcart Permit Systems does not store your credit card data. All card information is securely stored by our payment processor, and Oxcart communicates with them through tokenized, encrypted messages. Oxcart staff cannot view or access any of your personal payment details.

If prompted to pre-authorize payment with a credit card, this simply places a temporary hold on your card for the full permit amount and associated fees. Your card is not charged until the municipality approves the permit. If the municipality adjusts the fee—either increasing or decreasing it—the original hold is released, and you will be asked to re-enter your credit card information for the new amount.

Applicants may choose to save their credit card information to speed up the checkout process, but this is optional. As noted above, credit card data is never stored within or visible to Oxcart.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diner’s Club.
